Kids Martial Arts: Mixed Martial Arts Training

What is mixed martial arts?

Karate chop PeteIt’s a blend of Karate, Jujitsu, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, and a few others.  Since each one takes a period of time to learn the skill, your child will have to learn the basics of one before going on to the next one as each involves mental as well as physical training.

Why mixed martial arts?

Because the activity boosts not only your child’s physical health but also their mental well-being as well.

Older children will think twice about bullying a child that knows martial arts and how to defend themselves when being threatened. Your child will also become more self-confident and be more assertive after completing a few martial arts classes.

Will tuition in mixed martial arts make your child violent?

The response to that question is no because most studies have shown that those who start fights in school are usually the ones who have no self-control, no training, and no self-esteem.

Studies have also shown that learning mixed martial arts have a profound impact on children who have ADD and ADHD because it helps them stay focused on a task.

Before enrolling your child in a mixed martial arts program, do your research by checking out various gyms before enrolling your child. Reading customer reviews is a great way to know more about a gym and whether that teacher at the gym will be right for your child and their personality.

As a parent or guardian, you should observe several classes and speak with the instructors before enrolling your child into anything. Many gyms will let your child join an introductory class at no extra charge to try it out to see if it is the right fit for your child before you pay for the whole program.

If you child likes it, then it is time to sign them up. Be aware that some gyms will charge you for a six months session. Since your child may like it right now then change their mind later, inquire into whether they allow paying for the classes on a month to month basis.

Not every child will like mixed martial arts as a recreational activity. If this is the case, try to find something else that your child is interested in so you can find something that is good for their overall emotional psychological and physical well-being.

Mixed martial arts just like any other sport can help with your child’s development. They will become more responsible, more mature and less likely to engage in violence, so they grow up and become decent members of society. So give it a try and see if he or she likes it. Support your child in whatever activities fit their personality and build their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Pete’s Monster ~ My New Friend

Pete’s Monster My New Friend, is a continuation from the first book called Pete’s Monster.

In the first book, the story ends with Pete escorts the Blue Monster to live in his older brother George’s bedroom. Even though the Blue Monster had not caused Pete any harm or concern for him to be afraid of the Blue Monster. Pete wanted the Monster out from under his bed and George’s room seemed the obvious place for the Monster to stay.

It wasn’t till in the second book, Pete’s Monster ~ My New Friend, that we watch a friendship grow.

PETE's MONSTER_My New Friend COVER resizedThe Blue Monster knocks at Pete’s bedroom door one night and asks to return to sleeping under Pete’s bed. Pete is happy that the Monster wants to come back as he missed his companion, the Blue Monster. His new friend.

Pete leaves his bedroom after lights out against his Mother’s orders. He goes into the kitchen to get his new Monster friend something to eat, after the Monster tells Pete that he is hungry.

Pete’s Monster ~ My New Friend is also a rhyming storybook. It subtly and creatively covers the topic of friendship and was created to inform children at an early age that a friend can be of any size, shape or color.

The moral in the first Pete’s Monster book is that you should never lash out and hurt anyone, (bullying) because the true person who gets hurt the most could end up being you as you could be labeled as a bully at school and no one will want to be your friend.
